Although I do feel like our group fell short of the teaching goal, I do think some good things came out of the experience-- and not just for us! The photo is of the groups preparing for the activity I presented where each group would take a well known tune (row, row, row your boat, mary had a little lamb, etc) and make a dance/song to the tune using only left, right, up, down, in front of, and behind for directions. The groups had a few questions as to what the restrictions were for me, so I wouldn't say that would fit as community of inquiry. However, within their groups, I heard lots of questions: is this okay? is this that or the other going to work best?, etc. I also was asked about using extra directions which i granted so far as on top of and below. I feel like over the course of the semester we have become comfortable with each other, enough to ask questions and interact well as a group, and-- ha ha-- a community of learners and inquirers as to others ideas, methods, theories, and activities. I feel like watching this was constructive for me and for the groups because I don't often think in terms of the seven ideals for the education department, but when I looked at this, I saw it instantly, and have continued to see the community of inquiry in many aspects of my day, such as other classes, interactions with friends, and even conversations between strangers on the street. I think sometimes Berea just radiates comfortable community of inquiry vibes.
